Our Perspective

All people are truly “created equal”. The quality of society, the quality of communities, and the quality of social existence demands this equity. The quality of life available to anyone is, in a very real sense, tied to the full inclusion of people with disabilities. Our “community vision” is a vision of a world where people, who were once “exiled”, “treated”, and “protected”, are instead included and recognized for their capacities and gifts.

It is a world where people are not viewed as clients but as community members. The community has much to learn in opening its doors to people who have been left out. By working to build relationships between individuals with disabilities and their communities, we are offering communities an opportunity for renewal and growth.
